 "good for 6-month-old to 18-month-old" 2009-06-05

My son is now 17 month old, and the toy seems to be a bit boring for him. He does love to open and shot the door to turn on and off the music. The songs are delightful.

 "Baby likes it" 2009-03-31
By Leanne Skeie (Castle Rock, WA United States)
I bought this toy when my grandson was 3 months. He is now 1 and still loves it. It's a bit bulky. He learned quickly that it plays music when you open the door. When he was younger it was a game of open, close, music on, music off. It took until he was 10 months old to really understand that when you turn the pooh on top the insides spin around - and that is his favorite part now. He has never played with the "teethers" on the sides, but likes to use the sides as handles. He carries this toy around with him sometimes, but still prefers it as a crib toy around nap time.

 "Poor Spanish Pronunciation" 2009-11-09
By vasopres (California)
We received this table as a gift for our 10 month old daughter. We already have the Leap Frog Leapstart Table, and she appears to like them both equally.

My gripe with this table is poor Spanish pronunciation. My wife and I speak Spanish and quickly noted the non-natively accented Spanish. In other words, it sounds like someone with high school level Spanish provided the voice overs.

This is probably adequate for the developing mind to hear Spanish-sounding words; however, it's annoying to hear improperly pronounced words time after time.

"My boy LOVES this toy." 2009-11-05
By GreatOutdoors (San Antonio, TX USA)
My 9 mo boy has been playing with this every chance he gets since he was 7 mo. I also know the LeapFrog Learn & Groove(tm) Musical Table because my niece has it. I like this one better because it has a lot more going on. Both kids seem to like this one better if given their choice.

I put the legs on it immediately as he was already starting to lean on furniture, but as other reviewers note they are easy to take off (unlike the leapfrog), which is great for packing. It has been great to see him get more and more steady on his feet. He can now crab walk all around it to choose which toy he wants to use. It looks like great exercise and that is my favorite thing about the toy. of course, he fell backwards a few times while practicing his standing, but that's just in the nature of the toy: do not use unsupervised. Probably best used on carpet.

Others have complained that the computer closes hard and kids can get there fingers trapped. I have to say that although it makes a loud noise, it does not close with any force. Closing the computer with his hand in it seems to be one of my son's favorite things to do and he does it often with no indication of pain or injury. He just slides his hand right out and is in no hurry to do so.

Actually, the biggest problem is that he likes it so much it is sometimes hard to get him off it. When he does get off it and we start to get into a good game of peek-a-boo, it actually pipes up with "hey, I wanna play" and he actually leaves me to go play with it again. I guess there is a timer in it that makes it say this after it is inactive for about 30 seconds. Now I turn it off immediately when he gets off it so it will shut up. I also hide it from view for a few hours a day so that he will play with me, his other toys, visiting grandparents, etc.

Another gripe: the Spanish mode says everything in English first. Since he presses the buttons one after the other, he sometimes doesn't even hear the Spanish word. I don't understand why they need to translate everything from English, since he doesn't even speak English yet. Also, the songs are still in English. So it hardly speaks any Spanish at all. If it is very important to you that your child learn Spanish, the Leap Frog does it better.

All in all, I'm very satisfied with it. I think that it is helping him with walking. I have gotten more than my money's worth and highly recommend it.

"Great Toy and Better then Leap Frog" 2009-10-27
By G. Engler (Seattle, WA)
Really a fun toy, our daughter did not get it until she was around 8 months because the toys are more then just spinners and shakers (like the leap frog). We have tried the leap frog but it was to simple for our child and she has enough spinners and shakers in all her other toys like walkers, jumperoo, and exersaucers.

Our daughter just loves the phone, keyboard, book, and her fav is the computer. She loves to just open the computer and close it. She never closed the computer on her fingure and honestly its not heavy, i cant possibly see how any child can hurt themselves on it. But again, i would say this toy is better for the older child (around 8 months) since the toys are more educational and take a little bit of higher intelligency then the leap frog.

The Pros:

*The computer is awasome and our daughter just loves to close and open it and press all the buttons

*she loves the phone (rattle) that disattaches from the toy and she loves to carry it around with her. (she loves it more then any toy we have but see "cons")

*she like flippin the book pages

*she also enjoys the keyboard.

*i like that it has "words options and musical options", thats fun to change it up. We are not quite to the "spanish" options but i am sure we will use it later since we hope our child speaks multiple languages.

* legs are easy to take off

* sturdy enough for her to pull herself up on.

* easy to clean

* batteries last a long time

Cons:

*our baby misplaces the phone (rattle) and we have to find it all the time (wish it was attached by a phone cord but maybe they dont do that because it could be dangerous.

*after playing with the computer our daughter learned that all computers open and close, which includes mommys and daddys real laptops. But i guess i didnt expect anything different.

Overall, great toy and we really love it.

 "Interested for awhile" 2009-10-19
By S. Bobek (Hilliard, OH)
I bought this table for Christmas when my daughter was 8 months old. She loved it for the first month until she could cruise around. Since she started walking (at 10 months) she hasn't had much interest in it. I thought she would play more because of the variety it has- music, button sounds, talking, singing. Now at 18 months, she only plays with the detachable phone. It will be moving to storage shortly. On a positive note, other younger kids who visit enjoy it. I would recommend it, but it won't hold interest for up to 36 months of age.

This toy is one o the best purchases we made for our daughter. She is 12 months old and she absolutely loves it and plays with it all the time. It has 4 different settings including music, numbers, colors, shapes, etc. It's very fun and she even presses the buttons for music and dances along with the songs. It's really great! I recommend it for everyone.

 "LOVE THIS TOY!!!" 2009-11-17
By Amanda Perkins
I have seen the other negative reviews on this toy. I read them because I could not imagine anyone saying anything bad about it! My son absolutely loves this toy. We got it for him about 6 weeks ago. Yes it is VERY LOUD (both music and fan), in fact much louder than all of his other toys. I've gotten used to it though and don't mind. At first, the loud music did seem to scare him but after a few days of hs older siblings playing with it, he seemed to get the idea and figured out how to push the plunger himself. Now he pushes it all the time. The balls do go flying (how anyone coudl say the fan isn't strong enough, I don't know) sometimes, and sometimes he chases them and sometimes I have to dig them out of places. Once again, that's ok since the whole idea is for his enjoyment and development. And it gives me a little added exercise. He has tried to stick other toys down the hole but, anticipating that he'd do this, I'm really careful about which toys I leave out for him when he's playing with this so that he's can't get anything too stuck. So most of the other toys he has have pieces too big to really fit far down the hole and I can just pull them out. I must have the newer model with the cover because we have not had any "danger" issues with him getting stuck or even trying to get his arm stuck. He is also always supervised when playing with things like this. Bottom line is my son loves it and so do I! If you want tons of fun and laughter with your baby I highly recommend this toy!

 "A must buy!" 2009-11-15
By Melissa Thomason (Rocky Mount, NC)
My one year old received this toy for his first birthday. He loves it! He can play with it alone, or we can play together. He could press the button to start the popping by himself afer only one or two play sessions. It has improved his manual dexterity but most of all it's just fun!

 "Ball Popper Fun" 2009-11-13
By Elizabeth Mycko (Virginia, U.S. of A.)
We bought this toy for my one-year old for his birthday, and he loves it. He quickly learned how to push down the red plunger to make the balls pop, and laughs hysterically when they do. He also thinks that the music is great dance music!

Caveats: This toy is not very stable; if a child tries to balance on it, or pull themselves up on it, it will immediately fall over. Luckily, it's light, but it startles the child... Also, the toy is designed to run unimpeded; the slightest interference (or sometimes none at all), and the balls don't fall neatly back into the tray to go down the runway to pop up again, they fly all over the room. Again, more hilarity for the child, and this can be viewed as a positive if you would like to get your exercise from retrieving balls... And my kid keeps trying to put the balls back down the center hole, instead of the side one where they're designed to go. Of course, he also tries to put blocks, smaller balls, and whatever else he can find down there, too...luckily, a quick upside-down shake expells all foreign objects.

All in all, I would recommend this product. My child thinks it's hilarious, and I don't usually mind retrieving the balls. Usually.

 "Lots of fun times!" 2009-11-11
By Tillyweebug (TX)
Our son enjoys this toy a lot. He chases the balls all around and often laughs and squeels. The balls do fly around quite a bit, so if you have it out on the floor, be prepared for you and your little one to chase away! Tons of fun! (but they do remain in a play pen if you use one) He has enjoyed this toy from about 8 months and up, just remember, you will have to help them chase the balls if they cannot walk yet)

The only reason I rated it 3 for durable is b/c the batteries don't last long enough,(even name brand batteries) and w/out almost fully charged batteries, sometimes the air pressure is not enough to push the balls all the way out of the top. And, sometimes, if your child cannot find a ball, (it comes with 4) then only 3 balls have a hard time getting out also. It would be great if Playskool would offer a couple extra balls in the set.

GREAT toy though! Hours of fun for sure! Just keep extra batteries handy.

"A must have for babies" 2009-11-04
By Zoraida Rodriguez (Washington D.C.)
Purchased this for my nephew when he turned one. He absolutely loooves to play with the balls and see it go down the slide. I'm not sure which he likes best: to play with batteries on or off. Helps the child understand motion. :)
