 "Works great" 2010-01-11
By M. Hemingway (Los Angeles)
So far so good. We had a Graco one before but started getting a lot of static. This runs on 2.4Ghz, not 900mhz like that description/title says.

So, I was worried that it would interfere with our WLAN but that's not the case. It's extremely clear. We keep it in the hallway between two bedrooms (where my kids sleep) and noises in both bedrooms can be heard. We use the nightlight on it and while it's not bright it's bright enough for us to navigate the hallway and both bedrooms.

We don't use the music or ocean noise things. It just seems creepy to turn on music remotely. Like I'm playing god or something.

The receiver is approx 100 feet away from the handsets and 3 or 4 walls and is clear.

"Worst Electronic Device I have Purchased" 2010-01-11
By BMW (Chicago, IL)
We purchased this video monitor about 8 months ago and unfortunately it is the worst electronic device I have ever owned. My concern is not with the battery life between charges, which is less than satisfactory, but rather with the way the device re-charges -it doesn't. On a positive note, the customer service department at Fisher Price has been extremely helpful. First they replaced the battery at no charge, and when that didn't work they replaced the remote device as well. However, none of these concessions managed to fix the problem. Now even while plugged in the remote beeps every two to three minutes indicating that it is has a low battery. This makes the device useless as a monitoring device during the night. Considering the high cost of this monitor it is extremely disappointing.

 "Major Charging Issue" 2010-01-09
By Gasbags (Rhode Island)
Ultimately, the concept is good and if it actually charged I would like this product. We received this as a gift for our baby shower. I installed everything and then charged the hand unit. It worked and the picture was good (as good as your going to get from a sub $200 baby monitor from a toy company). However, when the hand unit is charging and you actually pick it up, the charger dislodges enough to stop it from charging (I am talking unnoticeable millimeters). So, at night when you may wake up suddenly and grab the monitor to look at it, it stops charging. Add that to crappy battery life and your monitor will die when you are sleeping! Not what you buy this for.

I called Fisher Price on 2 occasions to explain the problem. The CSR's were very nice but did not come close to handling the issue. They sent 2 hand units that were supposedly new yet came with stains, scratches and dents on them. Both of which did not hold a charge, one did not work at all and both exhibited the same charging issue. This is certainly an engineering issue (electrical tip not long enough). Try another brand.

 "Poor Quality" 2009-12-31
By L. Kraft
- This product seemed like a smart design when we purchased it 4 months ago. From the beginning, however, the battery did not hold a charge- not even for a half hour. We figured we could just leave it plugged in, which we have ended up doing for the past few months. All of a sudden this past week, the battery would no longer hold a charge at all. The monitor picture flickered constantly, and the sound no longer worked. The monitor shut down completely and we could not turn it back on. It also started making buzzing noises before it shut down.

I'm thinking we may have purchased a lemon; however, we are very disappointed with this, especially since it wasn't cheap. I am currently waiting for Fisher Price to respond to see if they will provide us with a new one, since this one is only 4 months old. I will update this review and let you know what Fisher Price's response is to our request.

Hopefully, they will come through for us on this one.

"Bad video and audio quality" 2009-12-10
By Mr. E. Lorenzo (Aguada, PR)
The first unit didn't worked well and Amazon exchanged it. The second unit was faulty as well.

All the time the coloring is changing, mostly to pink. The video quality is bad, sometimes you can not figure out what you are looking.

The audio is so bad (you can't hear your baby) that we need to use another baby monitor to be able to hear the sounds in her room.

 "Disappointing at best" 2009-12-04
By Stephen Alogna (Milford, CT)
I have never left a review of any product (good or bad). I'm so disappointed in this product that I feel compelled to warn others. This is one of the worst monitors I've ever purchased. As a father of three and having owned other video monitors I feel qualified to make this claim. The picture is sub-standard, the coloring is constantly fluctuating, and to top it off, the video freezes like watching video on a dial-up internet connection.

At one moment I was watching my daughter sleeping (or so I thought) the next moment she disappeared and miraculously reappeared on the other side of the crib - talk about being freaked out. Fortunately, I quickly realized the video froze. The camera is approximately 5 to 6 feet from my daughter, as instructed in the manual. I find it difficult to figure out exactly what I'm looking at. Is it her head or the stuffed animal's.

I've learned that video/audio monitors are less than perfect and they are typically good at either video or audio (not both). Well, not in this case, as bad as the video is, the audio is even worse. I can only hear my daughter if she speaks or cries "loudly". You cannot hear normal speaking voices and you cannot hear other noise in the room (sound machines, creaks, etc.). While I don't want normal noise to be amplified, I do want to be able to hear all sounds in the room and to have the ability to control it by volume. I tried turning the volume up, but the static only got louder and further drowned out other sounds. I'm confident that these problems are not due to interference, it's unfortunately just not a very good product.

I'm disappointed Fisher Price would put their good name on a product like this. I have no idea if they read product reviews, but I would welcome the opportunity to be proven wrong by one of their representatives.

I'm shocked that the other 6 reviews praise the monitor with the exception of battery life. Perhaps there is something wrong with the one I purchased.
