 "Lasted forever" 2010-01-25
By J. Rodriguez
We have had this monitor for 4 years and it just now stopped working. We have used it 24/7 for all 4 years in both a one story and two story house. The night light is not too bright which is really nice. We never experienced any problems with feedback or picking up any odd sounds. We will be buying a replacement one in the next few weeks for baby #3.

By Billy Pilgrim (Atlanta, GA USA)
The static on this unit is horrible and virtually every night, for no reason at all, the power cord becomes disconnected from the monitor unit and it goes off. I have to push it back in multiple times to get it to work. If I had it to do over again, I'd buy another product. If I could give it zero stars, I would. When it comes time to retire this, I plan to take a hammer to it. Do NOT buy this product.

This item I bought it for a present for my brother. They are using it for over a year and they are very happy with it, good sound quality, sometimes get interference from neigbours (apartament building).

"This monitor is a piece of junk" 2009-03-18
By S. Sagona (Louisiana)
When I was pregnant the first time, not knowing anything about baby monitors, I put this one on my registry. I wish I hadn't. A very lovely friend purchased it for me and I appreciate her generosity, but man, this thing is a piece of garbage.

The static that comes through is horrible at first and having been using it for the past two years, it's only gotten worse. I find it hard to get to sleep at night over the constant static it emits. Worse than that, is the Spanish-speaking radio station I tend to pick up on a clear night. Hey, I like Mariachi as much as the next person, not so much on my baby monitor.

Next complaint is the volume dial. You have to turn it up past the second setting to even get sound out of the receiver. The first time I used it, I didn't know this and there's no telling how long my baby cried before I knew what was happening. I still feel guilty about that. Secondly, when you turn the monitor off, there's a loud crackling noise that tends to be loud enough to wake anyone else in the room that might have managed to get to sleep over the static and "La Cucaracha".

Now that our second child is due to arrive, I'm throwing this thing out and getting something better. I can't deal with another two years of static and late night jam sessions.

 "Pretty good monitor" 2008-10-19
By mom2two
I have been using this monitor for almost two years and am fairly pleased with it. I like the light feature that shows if the baby is crying without actually having the sound up. It can have a bit of static, but I found that keeping the sound turned on the lowest level with still being able to hear the baby takes care of it. I have not had any problems with picking up radio stations or monitors. It is pretty sensitive to noise, however--another reason to use the lowest possible volume setting. The receivers are a bit lightweight and tend to knock over easily. This is the first set of monitors I tried and I was pleased enough to keep them--I can't compare them with similar products. If you are looking for a decent priced set of monitors that work fairly well, this is a good choice.

 "great monitor" 2008-05-22
By T. Cannon (Louisiana)
we don't use the monitors on a daily basis, but definately use them often. they are great - good reception, love the night light, and the price. we have had only one problem - one of the receivers doesn't accept the power cord well. but with a little adjustment we can get it to work. but we usually use batteries anyway since we use the monitor for while we are outside during naptime. sure, there are better monitors, but there are worse ones too. so i would have to honestly say this is a middle of the line quality but with a super price.

"Two models in two years- moving to different company" 2008-03-10
By J. Clarkson (Albuquerque, New Mexico United States)
We have had two different models of this monitor over two years. The first broke after traveling cross country in checked luggage. Nothing seemed visibly wrong; it just didn't work anymore. With the second, it still works, but we replace the batteries in the receiver at least once a week, if not twice, because the cord stopped working for some unknown reason. I tried to order a new cord from the Fisher-Price website, and was careful (I thought) to order the correct one, but when we received it, it didn't fit.

I am fed-up with Fisher-Price now, and am moving on to a monitor made by a different company. Probably Sony.

While working, these monitors worked fairly well. We never had a problem with interference, but there was some static if we placed it in a "hotspot" in our house.

I hate that this model does not have rechargeable batteries (at least the one we have doesn't), and I only bought it because it's what Walgreens had last time I shopped for a monitor, and we needed it asap.

"Great reception, You can actually hear him breathing." 2008-01-17

I used this monitor to listen for my elderly father. It was great! We could hear his every move which was necessary, because of his risk for falling. I never had any problems at all. I don't understand the negative comments.

 "Good product, nice reception" 2007-12-04
By T. Bux (Barnesville, PA United States)
We've been using this for a month now, and I really cannot complain about it. It works well, picks up even the faintest baby noises. The dual receivers are nice as you can keep one in your bedroom and take on with you downstairs or where ever you go.

The base unit has a built-in night light. It isn't too bright, but at 2 am, you don't need much to see. The power button is easy to find and operate. Channel switch lets you switch between two frequencies.

The receivers can be operated either by battery or by included AC adapter. The batteries last a long time. A nice feature are the lights that indicate how loud baby is. This is great because sometimes you don't want the volume up, and with seeing the lights you can tell how loud baby is being.

Overall a great product at a good price.

 "Great, Reliable Monitor" 2009-12-24
By WordGirl
Got this for our son when he was born almost two years ago. I love that it has four channels so if there is static interference I can change channels. That said, I've only had to change channels twice in two years. And I've never heard anyone on their cell phone or police scanner. And we live in a dense suburban neighborhood.

The range of this monitor also means that I can work in the yard while he's sleeping with no problems at all. Everything is clear as a bell. There is a removable belt clip on the back of the monitor that is great, although it could be tighter. The monitor itself is small and light and easy to carry around. And the sensitivity of the receiver is almost spooky. I can hear my son BREATHING even when the volume is set to level 2. The receiver is small enough to put almost anywhere and the nightlight is strong enough for my son to feel secure but not nearly bright enough to read by, for example.

We bought a duplicate of this monitor after I dropped it down the stairs so many times that the guts would only broadcast on a ridiculously high volume. But that was my fault.

Expecting baby #2 in a month and a half and plan on getting another one of these for her. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

 "perfect for my needs" 2009-09-28
By L. Meyerhoff (MD)
I had registered for a $100 baby monitor, that is small and can clip on me, as I move around.

Though, when I was in TJMaxx this weekend, I found this Fisher Price, Ready 2 Wear baby monitor for $[...]. It seemed too good to be true. So, my husband and I bought it.

We live in a condo, one floor. So, we don't really need anything with a really long range. Even though my baby is not here yet, I have already been able to use it. I babysit a 1yr old boy. And as, he naps in the other room, I have the baby monitor on, so I can hear him if I do laundry, or am at the other end of the condo. Seems to be perfect for my needs. So, glad no one had to spend the needless $100 on buying me a monitor I did not need.

 "Great idea-if it worked." 2009-09-07
By Mom to Sophie (New York, NY, USA)
Thought this product was a great idea for Moms/Dads on the move but it simply doesn't work. I live in an apartment and have the standard Fisher Price Sounds n' Lights monitor which has worked perfectly for us for 2.5 years. I bought this for our second baby due in October and tested it out today. After a full charge, I wore the monitor bracelet in our bedroom and immediately began hearing lots of static and a popping noise, followed by loud beeps that drove me nuts. The rooms are not more than 50 feet from each other. Sadly returning this product and will continue to search for something that works for us.

The very first thing we noticed was the severe popping and crackling noises the monitor made. We live in a single floor house, and the baby's room is less than 20 feet from our room, so I have no idea why it did this. It was hard to hear the baby over the crackling and popping sounds.

Second we noticed that the volume settings were a joke - unless it is on the highest setting or there is complete silence, we couldn't hear the baby screaming.

Third, the incredibly obnoxious and very loud beeping noise the monitor would make even when on the charger base. We tried turning the receiver on and off, recharging it, even tried unplugging the base unit in the baby's room. After 4 nights, the unit wouldn't stop beeping at all. Every time we turned it on, it would just start beeping. I [..]

"nice size but doesn't work well" 2008-05-13
By LJ (Atlanta, GA USA)
With our third child, we needed an additional monitor, and this one was appealing for it's portability. But, it has a clicking sound and poor reception at only 30 feet from our baby's room, and works only intermittently upstairs or outside. A nice idea, but I wish I'd bought another of the old "sounds and lights", which after 5 years, still works well. Fisher Price was willing to send a second unit to see if the "speaker" was bad that came with the wearable monitor, yet even the new one they sent made the clicking sound. Now, one of them doesn't produce any sound at all (though it still lights up).
